Saudi Gazette report BURAIDAH — A citizen who has been waiting for Al-Qassim Health Affairs to reveal the cause of his wife's death, told Al-Hayat that he will go to the Minister of Health if the directorate does not release the investigation's result. Naif Al-Harbi said he could no longer find excuses to tell his children who keep asking about their mother and when she will return home. Al-Harbi's wife died five months ago at Buraidah Maternity and Children's Hospital while giving birth. He said what really infuriates him is that the hospital allowed the doctor who he said committed a medical error when treating his wife to travel outside the Kingdom. The directorate's officials have shown nothing but carelessness in dealing with his wife's case, he said. He noted that he would leave no stone unturned until he discovers the circumstances that led to his wife's death and the nature of the medical error that the commission has failed to identify so far. He said: “Has a citizen's life become so cheap? “How could the hospital allow the doctor who was responsible for my wife's death to go back home although the investigations are not over yet?” Al-Harbi said he has grown “sick and tired” of the way the directorate's officials handled his case. He said he was disappointed because he does not know what claimed his wife's life. He noted that the consultant doctor's medical report, which said the woman died of a heart attack, was untruthful. He said she died from severe bleeding a few hours after she had surgery. He said the doctor was allowed to continue his work following the incident although he was supposed to be suspended from work. He said: “The directorate's officials have given me nothing but false promises. “I must find a way to meet the Health Minister and explain all this to him. “I want to know who write that false medical report and why the doctor who was banned from travel is no longer here in the Kingdom.” Al-Harbi has three children. The youngest one was born on the day the mother died during the delivery. His sister is now taking care of the baby. The other two children are three and seven. Al-Hayat sent the directorate's spokesman Muhammad Al-Dabasi an email to enquire about the case but he has not responded. The newspaper also tried to contact the hospital's medical director, but did not receive a response.
