Khaled Al-Suleiman Okaz Some of our schools lack sufficient classrooms, laboratories, theaters and sports grounds. Some of these schools are rented and there is hardly enough space for students to stand during the morning assembly or sit during break time. How then do we expect our schools to make room for stables so children can receive horseback riding lessons? We also lack enough teachers and are not able to employ the large number of graduates who continue to count themselves among the country's unemployed. Despite all this, there are people who are asking for horse trainers to be given jobs in our schools. In order to improve our education sector, our schools do not need to offer horseback riding lessons as much as they need to fix their academic and administrative shortcomings. We need to be among the leading nations when it comes to education because there are countries that are way ahead of us despite having much less resources. The question is: Do our schools really need to offer horseback riding lessons? If the Ministry of Education has enough money, then it will be better spent on building schools, equipping laboratories and building sports facilities so our schools can offer a quality education that will benefit the next generation.
