Abdullah Al-Faisal launched the Heart Day at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center here on Tuesday. With the theme ‘Avoiding the Risk of Heart Disease,' the programs included lectures wherein the participants highlighted ways to protect the vital organ from various diseases, Najeeb Yamani, Director General of the hospital's community relations program, said. Tests for cholesterol, fat and blood pressure were also conducted at the hospital. ‘King Faisal Specialist Hospital will organize an international heart conference. The three-day conference will focus on new methods of heart treatment and a review of the latest information and statistical studies in the field of heart disease,” Nasser Mahdi, the director of the cardiology unit at KFSH, said. He said Dr. Hussein Al-Jaza'eri, World Health Organization's (WHO) Regional Director General, will brief the conference on the role of the WHO in combating heart disease. Renowned Islamic scholar, Amro Khalid, will brief the conference on preventive measures against heart diseases from the Islamic point of view. The conference will be attended by a number of prominent Saudi and non-Saudi physicians, including those from the US, Britain, France and Germany. __
