King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has doubled financial aid to the disabled listed in the Ministry of Social Affairs. The increase by SR1. 041 billion takes the total aid allocation to the disabled to SR2.082 billion yearly, said Minister of Social Affairs Yousif Bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen. The minister said the King takes a personal interest in all affairs related to the disabled and that his “fatherly gesture” also extends to needy families registered in the social insurance, who get SR1.5 billion annually. Al-Othaimeen said the additional payment would be made as soon as possible. He said The additional amount to enable the disabled to stay on with their families instead of being sent to special centers. “It will also encourage families to provide more care to this group,” the minister said.
