JEDDAH – Emir of Makkah and Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of Souk Okaz Prince Khaled Al-Faisal Tuesday announced the names of the winners of the seventh Souk Okaz awards. Issa Ali Jarabah, Saudi, won the SR300,000 award of Okaz Poet while Haydar Jawad Al-Abdullah won Okaz Young Poet award. Prince Faisal Bin Abdullah, Minister of Education, announced the winners of the awards of photography and calligraphy. Each award carries a sum of SR100,000. The three winners of the photography category were: Abdullah Sulaiman Al-Shethri from the Kingdom, Majed Obaid Al-Amiri and Ali Hamad Ah-Ghafri, both from Oman. For Arabic calligraphy contest, the three winners were Muhammad Noor Amjad from Pakistan, Mustafa Barldar from Turkey and Farhad Yasin Nader from Iraq. Dr. Abdulaziz Khoja, Minister of Culture and Information, announced the winners of A Portrait and a Poem award. The first two winners were Abdul Rahman Yehya Al-Maghrabi and Abdul Rahman Abdullah Al-Sulaimi. On behalf of the Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Abdul Elah Banaja, President of Taif University, announced the winners of the Creative Science award. Professor Ali Abdullah Al-Shitwi came first.
