Reeh exhibition opened its doors on Monday to numerous visitors keen to view the handicraft and entrepreneurial skills of Saudi women and participate in its fund-raising activities. The four-day annual event, organized by the National Home Health Care Foundation (NHHCF) under the patronage of Princess Sarah Al-Anqari, is an oriental market displaying a wide collection of products including food, home appliances, artwork, gift items, and jewelry. Princess Adela Bint Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, Chairwoman of the foundation's Western Province branch, described the fund-raiser as “a great opportunity for Saudi businesswomen to show their efforts and creativity.” The entrepreneurs displaying their wares agree. “This is the fourth year we've been involved in the exhibition,” says Maya Mukhi, from Effy's Jewelry, who have come from Lebanon especially for the event. “We have made loyal customers over that time and they wait for us the whole year!” Sukaina Hussein Mackie of Jade Jewelry said a great response has been seen from the visitors. “We represent jewelry of all types, including classic designs. We also ask visitors for their recommendations as well.” While all kinds of jewelry remain popular whatever the occasion, fashion clothing is constrained by other factors. “The trend for Saudi women changes according to the seasons and weather,” said Nabila Nazer, a fashion designer presenting specifically Ramadan garments and casual wear. “Most customers are demanding thobes this month,” she says. Those wishing to hark back to former times may wish to visit Al-Nahda Heritage Center's display. Somaya Badr Mohamed, the Center's Director, said: “In this expo we are here to show the visitors replicas of old sketches of Saudi customs and traditions. All of which have been inspired by Saudi heritage and culture.” According to Zahra Al-Khaldi, media coordinator from Intellect Media, Bussat Al-Reeh also encourages the involvement of various charities from all over the Kingdom, strengthening mutual cooperation and support. The Bussat Al-Reeh exhibition is open at the Jeddah Hilton Hotel until Thursday, Sept. 18. __
