An exhibition designed to showcase the talents and works of Saudi women is to be held at the Jeddah Hilton next week. Princesses, businesswomen and over 50 Saudi companies will take part in efforts to highlight the role of women in Saudi society. Head of the exhibition's organizing authority, Najwa Khiyat, said many international and local companies are involved in the exhibition. “King Abdullah has given Saudi women a great opportunity to play a more effective role in society, by allowing Saudi women to work within the rules and laws prescribed by our religion,” Khiyat said. Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah Region, is also paying great attention to improve Saudi women's role in the society, she added. The exhibition, under the patronage of Princess Latifa Bin Thnian, head of the female authority at the King Abdul Aziz Center in Jeddah, will display a wide variety of items catering to women's needs and interests such as makeup, personal and household accessories, jewelry, handicraft, abayas and other products. “It is exhibitions such as these that make Jeddah different,” Khiyat said. Titled “Sharqiyat,” the exhibition will run from Sept. 20 to 23 at the Jeddah Hilton. __
