The letter "Modi's insipid analogy" (July 16) by Safi Jannaty is excellent. It reveals what a poisoned mind Narendra Modi has. Indeed, Muslim men, women and children suffered in the Gujarat riot in 2002. No doubt, the carnage was preplanned to destroy the Muslim community socially, politically, and economically. The riot also proved that Sangh Parivar does not have humanitarian principles and its foundation is based on fascist standards. The Gujarat riot was so severe that its impact is still felt by Muslims today and those Muslims who were displaced by the riot are still not settled yet as their property and everything they owned was destroyed systemically. The impact of Sangh Parivar was so severe that even Congress MP Jafri was killed. Nitish Kumar has rightly disassociated himself from Modi and his Hindu fascist mindset. The travesty of justice is that Modi was judged blameless and not proved guilty in court. Modi who was responsible for the shedding of so much Muslim blood is scot-free and no one has the guts to put him behind bars. Even Congress, the ruling party, has been silent and unable to prove the truth against Modi. Moreover, despite the hue and cry about Modi's bad image, he won the Gujarat election for the third time. All of these matters do not augur well, and they also indicate that the people of India do not use their votes wisely and do not elect the right candidates. If Modi wins the 2014 election, then it will be the biggest travesty in the history of India. Anees Lokhande, Al-Khobar
