IN a yet another recognition of the high quality standards maintained across its manufacturing facilities, Saudia Dairy and Foodstuff Company's (Sadafco) Dammam Factory has received global ISO 22000:2005 food safety management certification from Intertek – Moody International. Located in Dammam's Industrial City and spread over an area of 22,500m², the recently refurbished and inaugurated factory manufactures market-leader Saudia Tomato Paste, Saudia Feta Cheese and the Crispy Snacks range of Letters and Super Rings. The ISO certification for the Dammam facility closely follows similar recognitions for Sadafco's two factories in Jeddah last year. Applauding the efforts of the entire team, Raffael Reinders, Sadafco Director Manufacturing, said “as a leading foodstuff and dairy company, we recognize the importance of international food and beverage standards. With operations in this facility being halted for six years, this ISO 22000:2005 certification is a milestone achievement for the Dammam Factory. Our unwavering commitment to implement best manufacturing practices has been instrumental in securing this recognition, a testament to the safety and quality of our popular products.” Work to re-open the factory started towards the end of 2011 and production resumed in the refurbished factory in August 2012 with Crispy Snacks the first to come off the line. ISO 22000:2005 specifies requirements for a food safety management system where an organization in the food chain needs to demonstrate its ability to control food safety hazards in order to ensure that food is safe at the time of human consumption. The certification is applicable to all organizations, regardless of size, which are involved in any aspect of the food chain and want to implement systems that consistently provide safe products. – SG
