“ISLAM is under attack but more people are embracing Islam than before,” said Ibrahim Downey, president of SIB-KIS Counseling and Consulting Service, at the 20th Annual Islamic Dawah conference in Canada. This was the first dawah conference after the Interfaith dialogue at Madrid. “If you look at the condition of the Muslims you see suffering, but non-Muslims despite such conditions are accepting Islam,” Ibrahim said. Let us not put the blame on each other for the current situation but work together to improve the situation, he added. He emphasized on spreading the real message of Islam and clear misconceptions on terrorism. “People misunderstand as some take one part and leave the other,” said Shabir Ally, president of the Islamic Information and Dawah Center International in TorontoCanada. “This is not right. The verses of the Qur'an relate to each other. All related verses must be taken together to understand the whole meaning.” He said anti-Islamic movies and media mislead people about Islam. “We must not deny that it's written in the Qur'an to deal fairly and do justice with people, whether they are Muslims or Non Muslims,” he added Dr Abdullah Hakim Quick, director of the Islamic Dawah Department of the Islamic Judicial Council in Cape Town, South Africa, explained the suffering Somalia, Zimbabwe and other poor Muslim countries are going through because of differences among them. He stressed on Muslims to stand united. “Nearly 15,000 Somali people are living as refugees in Cape TownSouth Africa,” Quick said. “Ethnic groups are taking over Muslims because of their differences, pride and jealousy.” __
