Abdul Raheem Hassan Okaz/Saudi Gazette MADINAH — A group of electric appliance agents who market famous brands told Okaz that there are lucrative opportunities for Saudis who decide to learn how to install and fix air-conditioners. The agents said Saudis could make up SR900 a day if they work as air-conditioning technicians after taking intensive courses in this field. One of the agents noted that an expatriate technician charges from SR400 to SR700 for each air-conditioner he installs. Saud Al-Harthy, who works for an electrical appliance company, said this kind of job requires high skills, especially for split air-conditioners. He said the reason why many Saudis don't learn the skills required for this job is that expatriate workers had controlled the market and restricted job opportunities to Saudis. He noted that once the grace period ends and expatriate workers who violate residency laws leave the market, Saudis will have a good chance to benefit from job opportunities in the sector. He urged Saudis to start their own businesses in this field because it generates a lot of profits.
