BENGHAZI — Five hundred new recruits formally joined the Libyan army at a graduation ceremony at Martyr Faraj Alaurfi Training Center here, Wednesday. It is the latest in a series of graduation ceremonies for new army members. The latest recruits have joined Brigade 319 of the Infantry Forces. Marking the occasion, Brigade 319 commander, Col. Abdul-Salam Gemati expressed thanks to those who had joined the national army – all of them former revolutionaries who had signed up as individuals. They were given a military service numbers after passing the necessary medical tests and proving they were compatible with the various conditions to join the armed forces. The celebration included a march past by the new soldiers as well as displays of martial arts and of military vehicles equipped with medium and heavy weapons. The ceremony was attended by the Benghazi region commander, Brig. Saleh Salem, the Benghazi Air Defense commander and delegates from all military units in Benghazi. — Libya Herald
