Activities and scope of Makakh History Center have been expanded to include Madina and the center will now be called Makkah and Madina History Center. A decision to this effect was taken at the first constituent meeting of the Board of Directors of Makkah History Center presided over by Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Emir of Riyadh and Chairman of King Abdul Aziz Darat here Friday night. The meeting was also attended by Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah. Dr. Fahad Bin Abdullah Al-Samari, Secretary General of King Abdul Aziz Darat said the board expressed its thanks and appreciation to King Abdullah and the Crown Prince for the great care they give to the service of the Two Holy Mosques, and also for the documentation of the history of Makkah. He said the board also defined the goals of the center manifested in collecting the sources of Makkah and Madina history as well as all the manuscripts, studies and documents focusing on the two holy cities. Al-Samari said the center is also aimed at organizing scientific forums and specialist exhibitions depicting the history of Makkah and Madina, besides issuing scientific periodicals in Arabic and other languages focusing on Makkah's history. Apart from this, the board got acquainted with the administrative structure of the center comprising the Board of Directors, the center's management, and scientific sections which include library, data and research center, periodical translation and publication center, researchers' service center, conferences and public relations. The board also endorsed the formation of a scientific committee to supervise scientific activities. __
