Saudi Gazette report JEDDAH – Ebsar Foundation for Rehabilitation of the Visually-Impaired has implemented a program to help 40 children with various visual impairments learn shopping skills. The six-week program, which is being carried out here, will enable children to shop on their own and help them integrate them into society. Muhammad Ballo, the foundation's secretary general, said the children will be able to bargain with shopkeepers and use shopping etiquette while at malls. They will also learn how to ask for help politely and how to apologize for any mistake they might make. Ballo called for making malls accessible to the visually-impaired by marking special pathways for them as well as direction signs in Braille. He also said public transportation does not take disabled persons into consideration, something which poses a huge problem for those who unable to afford private transportation.
