MAKKAH – Charlotte, the leading name in the world of cakes and desserts, opened its third branch in Makkah, amid the success of its two stores in Jeddah and Makkah. On this occasion, owner of Charlotte (House of Bakery) chef Abdullah Ba Taweel, said “opening this new branch in Shawqyah Street on 200 square meters comes to meet our customers' increased demand on Charlotte's luxurious desserts. In all Charlotte branches, we present our best products in which we use the finest raw materials, chocolate and fruits imported from France, Netherlands and Belgium.” He also said that the secret of Charlotte products lies on attention to details and combining taste, decking and decoration, while at the same time, maintaining the high quality as well as reasonable prices. “After 19 years of working in the Kingdom under the name ‘House of Bakery' in confectionery and pastry, we are coming under a new name ‘Charlotte'. This name was inspired by ‘Charlotte', the story of Cake, which was the outcome of people's love to their beloved queen Charlotte, the wife of King George III of England and mother of King George IV and was designed by renowned French chef Antonin Careme in the seventeenth century,” added Ba Taweel. ‘Charlotte' is a token of royal taste and expression of love and loyalty, in this sense, ‘House of Bakery' linked the new name to the ancient one with its noble symbols and meanings, eyeing a sole goal – to delight its fans by providing the best French and European desserts. To chef Ba Taweel, the French cuisine is the world's best with its diversity, resources and ancient history, adding to this the distinctive echelon given to desserts, especially that desserts are served with each of the main three daily meals in the French cuisine and conceivably ‘Charlotte' is one of the top French pastries that have sprung up in global cuisines, boosted by its delicious taste and distinctive decoration which adorns every table, hence it's how Charlotte made in Saudi Arabia evolved. “Charlotte has five branches, three in Jeddah and two in Makkah and we plan expansion in the future, especially with the confidence we received from our customers” Bataweel noted. Chef Abdullah Ba Taweel said ‘Charlotte' enjoys a long experience in the international schools for cakes and desserts in France, Germany and the United States. He studied engineering for three years in the Kingdom, yet he transferred and got his bachelor's degree in business from Switzerland. His favorite hobby is making cakes and desserts which never left him while studying and to achieve his ambitions, he worked in the famous "Four Seasons" hotel in Philadelphia, USA. In addition, in his journey seeking to gain more experience, he moved to France to work with the most famous French chefs in desserts and cake. His limitless ambitions pushed him to move to Germany where learnt the latest technology in making cakes. On his return to Jeddah, he established the first factory specialized in desserts and cakes. — SG
