Badea Abu Al-Naja Saudi Gazette MAKKAH — Civil Defense teams rescued a 50-year-old Turkish Umrah pilgrim who fell off the historic Thour Mountain in Makkah. Makkah Civil Defense spokesman Maj. Saleh Al-Elayani said three rescue units were dispatched to the accident scene in a rugged area where the injured pilgrim was provided first-aid. He was then air-lifted to Al-Noor Specialist Hospital for treatment. The case was referred to the police for further action. The mountain is notable for the cave known as Ghar Al-Thour (Cave of the Bull), where the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) with his Companion Abu Bakr hid from their persecutors during the migration to Madinah. The cave is visited by many pilgrims during Haj and Umrah seasons for its historic importance.
