Political tension is brewing in the Punjab, raising questions about the fate of the Shahbaz Sharif government. Punjab Governor Salman Taseer, a nominee of President Asif Zardari, has met Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and discussed various important political issues including the political situation in Punjab. They agreed on the need for the democratic process to continue and discouraging the “horse-trading”. They said practical measures should be taken to end the creation of “forward blocs” (defectors) and for promotion of democratic values. Taseer is working to win the support of the Chaudhrys to oust Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The MPs belonging to the PML-Q are divided and are supporting two different parties – the PML-Nawaz and Pakistan People's Party (PPP). __
