DAMMAM — Five Saudi women are working in the family section of an international restaurant as cashiers and waiters, according to a local report. The restaurant manager said that the management of the international chain of restaurants is seeking to increase the Saudization rate in their branches in the Kingdom. He said that the management is seeking to interact with Saudi society, and that it is looking to employ more Saudis of both sexes. The Ministry of Labor has warned against violating its regulations for employing women. The ministry has allowed women to work in kitchens as long as there are at least three other women during the same shift. This is to allow women to provide for themselves as the case may call for, and allow Saudi women to work in jobs that were previously restricted to expatriate women. Such jobs are working in wedding halls, as hosts, preparing foods and drinks, clothes designers, and photographers. Some women have also begun working from home as baby sitters, preparing foods, and sewing. This has become especially noticeable in concurrence with producing families program, supervised by the Ministry of Social Affairs.
