Saudi Aramco concluded the annual Communication Engineering Technical Exchange Meeting (CETEM) this week. CETEM displayed the technologies Saudi Arabia's national oil company is using in its operations. The event, the seventh of its kind, has served as an effective platform of synergy and cooperation between the company, the Saudi business sector and educational institutions, according to Saleh Al-Zaid, general manager of Saudi Aramco's Process and Control Systems Department (P&CSD). “As part of its strategic planning, Saudi Aramco has formal agreements of collaboration with both local and international manufacturers and companies and with several academic institutions, both educational and scientific,” he said. “These business relationships make win-win situations and success stories that help our industry and society as a whole.” More than 20 different vendors, all partners of Saudi Aramco, presented new technologies and solutions, including communication systems. Al-Zaid said Saudi Aramco is also developing in-house technologies. “Although Saudi Aramco is not necessarily in the business of developing telecommunication technologies, information technology and data communications, it is currently in the process of developing at least one such patent in the Process and Control Systems Department,” Al-Zaid said. __
