Saudi Gazette report DAMMAM — The Eastern Province municipality has prepared areas to receive visitors during the summer break. The municipality has provided all services by preparing the parks, recreation parks and cities, green areas and centers for children's games. Fahd Al-Jubair, mayor of the Eastern Province, has issued directives to all municipalities to intensify cleaning and maintenance of all recreation sites, seafronts, parks and recreation places. Muhammad Al-Sufayyan, director of public relations at the Eastern Province Municipality, said the region is attracting visitors from within the Kingdom and abroad, as there are beautiful seafronts in Dammam, Al-Khobar, Half Moon Bay, Dammam Corniche, Al-Murjan Island and Al-Khobar Corniche. Numerous tourist projects have been set up in these areas. This is apart from services, playgrounds for children, green areas, restaurants, cafeterias, recreation centers, mosques, restrooms, and all other requirements for recreation that meet the visitors' needs. For this reason, the municipality has attached great importance to cleaning at these sites and providing them with pavements, lighting, water, and various other services. Even before the onset of summer, it was decided to increase green areas, trees, shrubs and pedestrian promenades to suit the region's reputation as a beautiful tourist attraction. The municipality in Al-Qateef has prepared the corniche in the governorate to receive visitors. It has provided lighting, green areas, trees, palm trees, shrubs, children's games, promenades, parking lots, restrooms and seats. The 5-km long corniche along the coast of Ras Tannourah governorate has been made in such a way to be a splendid recreation area. The corniche has a sandy beach permitting wading and swimming in the area. It has been provided with all services. Al-Sufayyan added that along the 4-km long Jubail Corniche, a large number of trees and shrubs have been grown to make it more beautiful. Besides this, several playgrounds for children have been prepared. Also, canopies, chairs and sitting areas are provided to enable visitors to enjoy the beauty of the sea. — SG/SPA
