Although the Czech Republic is today a quintessential tiny European country, it is no less famous than major European nations. Nevertheless, many know little about the country's recent cutting-edge advancement in various fields. The wealth of information contained in Mr. Hussein Shobokshi's article “Czech magic!” (May 20) has provided us with a lot of background, especially in the fields of music, cinema, culture and literature. Foreign students who have received their training in the Czech Republic speak highly of the country's institutions of higher learning Long before the two countries became separate entities, Czechoslovakia was well known for its sports activities especially in track and field.
