The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Jeddah Police Department made a preemptive strike against a gang of 11 pickpockets of Arab nationality who were illegal residents in the Kingdom. The alleged culprits chose the onset of the holy month of Ramadan to intensify their criminal activity, but all of them were arrested before they could start carrying out their crimes. The criminals were aged between 23 and 32 years. Yunus, the ringleader, was usually referred to as “Al-Khafeef” (the light one). He succeeded in recruiting several people into the gang and divided his gang into specialized pickpockets in lifts, at commercial complexes and markets and in mosques. He would divide the proceeds and provide transport and accommodation. He also guaranteed their transport to Jeddah. – Okaz __
