Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — An official account on Twitter named "Health Monitor" has been set up to educate the public on the hazards on public health issues regarding food establishments, Al-Watan newspaper reported. The account, which has more than 8,000 followers, is run by a health supervisor who photographs municipalities' inspections of restaurants and explains the reason for such raids. He said health supervisors have a conscience for life while some traders' consciences have died. He said anyone could report a violation, which should include the type of meal, the date, time and restaurant name. If more than one person reports violations against the same restaurant, it will be closed down as a precautionary measure. Those who complain about food poisoning should submit a report from a hospital and they will be reimbursed between SR1,000 to SR10,000 according to the damage they have suffered. The Twitter account has many photos showing workers' negligence of hygiene standards in popular and not-so-popular restaurants. A number of followers have asked the account holder to name and shame the violating restaurants, but he refused as it was set up on his own initiative on behalf of the government. He has responded to tweets on the account about various violations in restaurants. He advised notifying the municipality on 940 and to keep a sample of the food in question or photograph the violation.
