Electrical Industries Company (EIC) kicked off its annual bowling tournament at the Al-Gosaibi Sports Center here with 10 teams vying for the coveted championship cup. The opening ceremony was graced by Engr. Saad Al-Arfaj, Vice President for Human Resources of Electrical Industries Company who gave a very meaningful speech to the participants encouraging them to do their best in the sports and in the company as well. In response, the participants gave him a warm applause and thanked the management for this regular yearly tournament. Acknowledgement was also extended to the Vice Chairman of the Board, Engr. Ahmed Al-Swaidan and its Executive President Engr. Saud Al-Shallali for their continuous support. The game started with Team Orange crushing a highly favored Blue Team in the opening match with Arman Idaya providing the spark with a 197 points on the first game. The tempo was sustained by team captain Mando Pineda and the rest of the team members let ample support for the surprise win. Fiery Glen Gozun paced the Blue Team but the lack of support from teammates caused their downfall. On the other lane, explosive games of Team Violet's trio of Gani Guttierez, Tom Mar and Dennis Idaya made a big difference in a come from behind win against the Maroon Team. The Maroons led the match 2-0 but were unable to sustain their momentum and faltered in the succeeding games. Maroon gunners Ed Templo and Kiko Arsolon bizarrely turned shy from an earlier sizzling game and got overwhelmed by the scoring rampage of the Violets. The match between Team Grey and the Black Team provided the most entertaining affair of the day as the former beat the latter despite the outstanding plays of ace players Arnel Veluz (223) and Ruben Ilagan (194). And even with the determination of teammates Jess Escalante, Boy Pau and Mario Saba, Black Team still failed to get the win when Fer Deloberges combined with league veteran Roger Magrata, who exploded with a 200 earlier. Green Team also posted a win against the Yellow Team sending a message to their rivals that they are the team to beat. __
