PARIS — Singapore's Ng Ser Miang has entered the race for IOC president, saying he is a “global citizen” who can help the Olympic movement deal with a changing world. The 64-year-old Ng announced his candidacy Thursday at the Sorbonne in Paris, where the modern Olympics was founded by Pierre de Coubertin in 1894. Ng is bidding to become the first IOC president from Asia. He tells The Associated Press he has a “world view” and “would bring to the table a different perspective.” Ng, an IOC vice president, is the second declared candidate for the top job after Germany's Thomas Bach announced his candidacy last week in Frankfurt. — AP
