KHOBAR - Saudi Aramco announced on Saturday that it has awarded a turnkey IT solutions and infrastructure services contract for King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) to Wipro Arabia Ltd. Wipro Arabia, a joint venture between Wipro Ltd. and Dar Al-Riyadh Group, provides IT Solutions & Services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The agreement was signed here. KAUST is being built in Saudi Arabia as an international, graduate-level research university dedicated to inspire a new age of scientific achievement in the Kingdom that will also benefit the region and the world. As KAUST prepares to begin classes in September 2009, this IT project implementation will form the IT backbone for integrated, streamlined and efficient business operations. To enable KAUST to realize its vision, Wipro Arabia will deliver a futuristic, scalable and efficient integrated Enterprise Resource Planning ERP along with the Student/Campus management system. The ERP system will support 4,000 users and will be a Unicode system supporting English and Arabic. Key components of the project include SAP implementation covering Finance, HR Student System, University Solution, Healthcare and Real Estate. The solution also covers Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), Virtual Research Environment (VRE), and Integrated Library Management System ILMS and Digital repository implementation, along with Infrastructure products and services and User Training. This project will become the foundation for driving all operations and achieving faculty and student excellence at KAUST. Although the KAUST system will leverage an integrated ERP for core operating functions, other services (e.g., healthcare system) are to be covered in the ERP implementation project. __
