5 erring foreign trucks impounded with slapping fines of SR10000 each
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 18 - 03 - 2025

RIYADH — Inspection teams from the Transport General Authority (TGA) have seized five foreign trucks for violating the land transport regulations by transporting goods within the Saudi cities without a valid license. A fine of SR10000 was imposed on each violating truck, along with the impoundment of the trucks.
The trucks were booked for the violations during the intensive inspection campaigns, carried out by the authority. The TGA affirmed that it will not show any leniency with regard to implementing regulatory measures against violators.
A fine of SR10000 will be imposed, and the violating truck will be impounded for 15 days for the first violation. The penalties will be doubled in the event of a repeat of the violation, with a fine of SR20000 and impounding of the truck for 30 days. The fine will be SR40000 for a third violation, with impounding of the truck for 60 days; and a fine of SR80000 for a fourth violation, with impounding of the truck for 60 days. If the violator commits the violation for the fifth time, a fine of SR160000 will be imposed, along with impounding of the truck for 60 days.
Penalties include the confiscation of violating trucks that deliberately repeat violations and fail to comply with regulations. Intensive field campaigns will continue across the Kingdom to monitor and detect violations. This is part of the authority's efforts to strengthen oversight and regulation of the transport sector and ensure equal opportunities for carriers, achieving fair competition and supporting the national carrier.
The authority affirmed that these efforts are part of its commitment to effectively implement regulations, contributing to raising the efficiency of the logistics sector and achieving the objectives of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services, which aims to advance the sector and enhance its competitiveness at the local and international levels.
