The price of marrow is listed at SR19.95 a kilo at a supermarket in Jeddah on Friday. The sudden jump in the price of the widely consumed vegetable in Saudi Arabia, from SR4-5 at the baqalas or a maximum of SR8 at supermarkets, is inexplicable. The prices of most other food items have also increased this Ramadan.
