RIYADH — The Ministry of Interior announced the establishment of the General Department for Community Security and Combating Human Trafficking Crimes. The department, which is linked to the General Directorate of Public Security, is aimed at enhancing the overall security and safety of the Saudi society. This is in implementation of the directives of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman to develop and enhance the efficiency of the security work system in general and the crime-fighting system in particular. The ministry stated that the department is concerned with combating crimes that violate personal rights or violate basic freedoms guaranteed by the Islamic Shariah and the Basic Governing Law or violate the dignity of individuals in any way. The department will deal with eliminating such crimes, enhance the security and safety of society by combating the activities of criminal networks and dismantling them, and eliminate them in direct coordination with all relevant authorities at the local and international levels.
