I would like to ask the writer of the letter “Problems of sponsorship transfer” (May 8) what he means by “entering the Kingdom illegally”. Every expatriate comes to the Kingdom on a legal visa. But, the Saudi “kafeel” has no work, he only has visas. He asks expatriates to find work elsewhere and to give him a share of the salary every month. They do this, and this has been happening for decades. To change this, the “kafala” system should be abolished. Let the government be the sponsor and let them tax the expatriate if they wish.
