I am writing with regard to the article “Egypt drowns in Nile ‘water war” (May 7). I believe this article clearly shows the selfish belief of some people in Egypt that the Nile belongs to Egypt only. We the people of Sudan have been cheated in the1959 treaty. Above all, it is wrong to think the other Nile water producing countries like Uganda, Kenya, and Ethiopia do not need the water and to try to block them. The Nile projects in Ethiopian dams are sustainable. We have to use the water in an equitable manner. This is the only sensible way forward. Hassan, Khartoum
