RIYADH — Brig. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, confirmed the death of two Saudi personnel, including an officer, and the injury of another officer in a treacherous assault at the Coalition base in Seiyun, Yemen on Friday. The attack occurred while the personnel were engaged in routine physical training exercises at the base, which supports Yemen's First Military Region in counterterrorism, anti-smuggling operations, and provides humanitarian aid to the region. The assault was carried out by an individual affiliated with Yemen's Ministry of Defense. Al-Maliki clarified that the attacker does not represent the Yemeni defense forces, who greatly value the Coalition's support for Yemen's legitimate government and its efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people. The bodies of the deceased soldiers and the injured officer were evacuated to Saudi Arabia for repatriation and medical care. Al-Maliki stated that joint forces are working closely with the Yemeni Ministry of Defense to ensure a thorough investigation, apprehend the perpetrator, and pursue justice. He concluded by extending condolences to the families of the fallen personnel and praying for the swift recovery of the injured.
