RIYADH — Portuguese midfielder Ruben Neves of Al Hilal successfully underwent knee surgery on his patellar tendon on Friday in Finland, under the supervision of Dr. Lassi Limpanen. Following the procedure, Neves will begin a rehabilitation program that is expected to last until January. Neves had traveled from Riyadh to Finland on Thursday to undergo the surgery after sustaining the knee injury during Al Hilal's match against Al Ain on October 21, as part of the AFC Champions League. Al Hilal will be without their star player for the next five matches, starting with the game against Al Khaleej in the Saudi Pro League. Neves will also miss Al Hilal's upcoming AFC Champions League encounter with Al Sadd, followed by a league match against Al Shabab, a game against Al Gharafa in the AFC Champions League, and the Saudi Pro League match against Al Raed on December 5.
