ISLAMABAD — King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) signed four cooperation programs with the National Disaster Management Authority, National Commission for Human Development, Pakistan Red Crescent Society, and Kashmir Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority. This step aims to build communities affected by natural disasters in Pakistan benefiting approximately 360,000 individuals directly and 690,000 others indirectly, with a total value of $14,223,762. Under these agreements, 1,000 permanent housing units will be built for flood-affected families in 2022, providing safe housing for around 7,000 individuals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces. Each house is designed to have two bedrooms, a kitchen and a bathroom, ensuring a dignified living environment for families. The center will also establish 300 community schools equipped with solar energy and dedicated facilities such as clean drinking water across Pakistan, serving about 15,000 children, while indirectly benefiting more than 100,000 people. In addition, four secondary schools will be established in Kashmir. These schools will provide a safe learning environment for 3,400 students and contribute to the long-term development of the region. A national logistics warehouse for the National Disaster Management Authority in the capital Islamabad will significantly enhance the capacity to store and distribute relief supplies during emergencies. It will also rehabilitate 22 service facilities, including schools, health centers and water projects previously established by the Kingdom in areas affected by natural disasters in Pakistan to improve access to education, health care and clean water. The agreements were signed in Islamabad by the Assistant Supervisor General of the Center, Eng. Ahmed Al-Baiz, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Muhammad Dar, the Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf Al-Maliki, and a representative of the National Disaster Management Authority. These efforts come within the framework of the Saudi government's keenness to enhance the resilience of communities, support educational, health and early recovery projects, and rehabilitate service facilities in Pakistan.
