Saudi FM announces International Coalition to Implement Two-State Solution in Palestine
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 27 - 09 - 2024

NEW YORK — Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced the launch of the International Coalition to Implement the Two-State Solution during a ministerial meeting on Thursday addressing the Palestinian issue and peace efforts.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Prince Faisal said, "Today, on behalf of the Arab and Islamic nations and our European partners, we announce the launch of the 'International Coalition to Implement the Two-State Solution,' and we invite you to join this initiative. We are committed to exerting our utmost efforts to establish a reliable and irreversible path toward a just and comprehensive peace. We look forward to hearing your contributions to ending this conflict and maintaining international peace and security."
He stressed that the war on Gaza has caused a humanitarian catastrophe, alongside the serious violations committed by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank and the threats to Al-Aqsa Mosque, reinforcing policies of occupation and violent extremism.
"Self-defense cannot justify the killing of tens of thousands of civilians, the systematic destruction, forced displacement, and the use of starvation as a tool of war," said the Foreign Minister, also condemning incitement, dehumanization, and systematic torture, including sexual violence, as documented by United Nations reports.
Addressing the broader regional context, Prince Faisal warned of the growing risk of a regional war. "We are witnessing a dangerous regional escalation affecting Lebanon, bringing us closer to the risk of a regional war that threatens our region and the world," he said.
Prince Faisal called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and accountability for those obstructing the peace process. He questioned the credibility of the international system in the face of its inability to halt the violence, denouncing the selective application of international law.
Emphasizing that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is not merely a final outcome of a political process but an inherent right, he urged all nations to recognize Palestine and join the consensus of 149 countries that already do. "Implementing the two-state solution is the best way to break the cycle of conflict and suffering, creating a new reality of security and coexistence for the entire region, including Israel," he said.
