LISBON — The Board of Parties of the International Center for Dialogue (KAICIID) held its regular meeting at its headquarters in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon. The meeting, which took place in the presence of KAICIID Secretary-General, Dr. Zuhair Al-Harthi, saw the participation of representatives from member states Spain, Austria and Saudi Arabia, the Vatican as a founding observer, and Portugal as the host country. Some administrative and financial reports and procedures that enhance governance and transparency were reviewed at the meeting. The Council of Parties praised the financial mechanisms to enhance the work of the Center and its global role in consolidating dialogue between the followers of various religions and cultures. The Council reviewed the legal and administrative procedures for opening the door to membership for new countries to join the Council of the Parties, most notably Portugal, as well as the stages of KAICIID's accession to the United Nations as an observer. Dr. Al-Harthi stressed that KAICIID will continue its efforts to spread the culture of peace and dialogue among followers of various religions and cultures, and the importance of enhancing cooperation with the United Nations in preventing conflicts and consolidating values that drive tolerance and respect for others among various components in all societies.
