Mukesh Ambani prepares for son's grand wedding with lavish celebrations
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 06 - 07 - 2024

Asia's richest man, Mukesh Ambani, is gearing up for his youngest son's grand wedding with a series of extravagant pre-wedding celebrations. These events have drawn attention worldwide and set off a social media frenzy.
In March, Ambani hosted a three-day prenuptial bash for his son, Anant, which included a 1,200-person guest list featuring former world leaders, tech tycoons, Bollywood stars, and a performance by Rihanna. This was just the beginning of the months-long festivities.
As part of the celebrations, Ambani and his wife Nita organized a mass wedding for over 50 underprivileged couples in Navi Mumbai. The family also took guests on a three-day pre-wedding cruise from Italy to France in May, with performances by David Guetta, Katy Perry, and Pitbull.
The main wedding ceremony is scheduled for July 12, with Anant Ambani, 29, marrying his longtime girlfriend, Radhika Merchant, 29. The couple met through mutual friends in 2017 and quickly began dating.
Anant, who has a bachelor's degree from Brown University, oversees Reliance Industries' renewable and green energy projects. He also runs a 3,000-acre animal rescue center in Jamnagar. Radhika Merchant is the daughter of pharmaceutical tycoon Viren Merchant and serves as the marketing director for Encore Healthcare.
The wedding celebrations will span multiple days, with events taking place at the Ambani's Jio World Convention Center and their family home.
Recent events included a sangeet ceremony with performances by Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, and Salman Khan, as well as Justin Bieber. The family also hosted a mass wedding for more than 50 underprivileged couples as part of the pre-wedding festivities.
Extravagant parties are the Ambanis' specialty, and the upcoming events are expected to attract more celebrities, billionaires, and world leaders. In March, the guest list for the pre-wedding bash included Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, and Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. Performances included Akon and Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh.
The Ambanis are known for their lavish celebrations. In 2018, when Mukesh Ambani's daughter married, the festivities featured a performance by Beyoncé and appearances by Hillary Clinton and John Kerry. — Agencies
