Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Chief of Dubai police has said his department often receive driving license applications from Saudi women who wish to drive in the city state, Al-Hayat daily reported Saturday. Lt. Gen. Dhahi Khalfan was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Second Regional Anti-Drug Symposium, which concluded in Riyadh on Thursday. He said the United Arab Emirates allows women to drive as long as they follow traffic and road rules and possess a valid driving license. He went on to say traffic violations committed by Saudi drivers in Dubai are not many considering the number of Saudi tourists that enter the country every year. “Any tourist who wants to visit a certain country should familiarize himself with local rules and regulations,” he said while adding Dubai has strict traffic laws. “I have asked my officers to advise violators of traffic laws, be they Saudi or from other Gulf countries,” Lt. Gen. Khalfan said.
