RIYADH — Riyadh Air, which is owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), has signed a strategic partnership with Singapore Airlines, on the sidelines of the annual general assembly meeting of the International Air Transport Association, held in Dubai from 2-4 June. Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Airlines, said: "Our strategic partnership with Singapore Airlines unlocks great benefits for our future guests as it grows our network in cooperation with the best airline in the world. This relationship represents a meaningful and deep cooperation that begins with a wide-ranging code-sharing agreement, which "is expected to cover a wide range of areas including digital technology, loyalty and shipping." Goh Choon Phong, Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Airlines, said: "This partnership will enable us to offer more choices, enhanced connectivity, and greater benefits to our customers. Together, we can facilitate the growth of passenger traffic between Saudi Arabia and Singapore and beyond, via our own networks, supporting tourism and trade links." Under this partnership, the carriers will explore opportunities for interline connectivity on each other's service, subject to regulatory approval, he said. A range of commercial aspects will also be worked on, including air cargo services, customer experiences and digital innovations, paving the way toward a solid and long-term future partnership between the two airlines. This partnership will enable Riyadh Air to access the network of Singapore Airlines' destinations and customers in the Southeast Asia and Southwest Pacific regions. It will also enhance customers' ability to find more options available to the Middle East region from around the world through the network of destinations that Riyadh Air will cover when it officially launches commercial operations in mid-2025. Riyadh Air seeks to become a full-fledged airline with digital leadership by adopting the best global sustainability and safety practices through its advanced fleet of aircraft. The carrier hopes to connect guests to over 100 destinations by 2030.
