ATHENS — Sheikh Mohammed Al-Issa, secretary general of the Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL) and chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, met with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Prime Minister's office in Athens. They discussed a number of topics of mutual interest. During the meeting, Sheikh Al-Issa highlighted the Islamic values of peaceful coexistence, and tolerance, and thanked the prime minister for the hospitality accorded to him. Sheikh Al-Issa appreciated the prime minister's positive views on Islam's contributions to human civilization. Dr. Al-Issa held talks with Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens and All Greece. They emphasized the pivotal role of religious leaders in addressing all forms of religious and ethnic conflict around the world. The MWL chief also met with muftis, preachers, and a number of Islamic figures in Greece. They lauded the international role of the MWL in realizing the aspirations of the Muslim Ummah as well as its global mission to realize the betterment of humanity. Sheikh Al-Issa's Greek tour also included the visit to the Athens Mosque.
