RIYADH — The Ministry of Interior conducted a widespread inspection campaign across the Kingdom from May 9 to 15, 2024, to enforce residency, work, and border security regulations. The campaign identified a total of 16,023 violations, which included 9,947 residency violations, 3,929 border security breaches, and 2,147 labor law infringements.
During the campaign, 1,047 individuals were caught attempting to illegally cross into the Kingdom, with 44% being Yemeni, 54% Ethiopian, and 2% of other nationalities. Additionally, 34 people were apprehended while trying to leave the country illegally. The authorities also arrested 17 individuals involved in the transportation, sheltering, or employment of these violators.
Currently, 44,056 expatriates, comprising 42,239 men and 1,817 women, are undergoing procedures related to the enforcement of regulations. Of those detained for law violations, 36,497 have been directed to contact their respective embassies or consulates to obtain the necessary documentation for travel, 1,687 are arranging their departure, and 15,566 have already been repatriated.
The Ministry of Interior has issued a stern warning against facilitating the illegal entry of individuals into the Kingdom or assisting them in any form, stating that such acts are considered major crimes. Offenders may face up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to SR1 million, and possible impoundment of vehicles or properties used in the commission of these crimes.
The ministry urges the public to report any such violations by calling 911 in the Makkah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions, and 999 and 996 in other parts of the Kingdom.
