With regard to the report "40% of firms in Makkah owned by expats to fold" (May 4), I believe the government must realize that Saudis have benefited from the businesses operated by expatriates. It is basically a win-win situation for both Saudis (kafeels) and expatriates. It would be extremely incorrect to assume that only expats are benefiting. Imagine the economic activities that are generated from small businesses managed by expats and their spending within the country in the shape of rented accommodation, consumer items, food, schooling, health care, etc. Abdulrauf Sivany, Online response?
