The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Henan Provincial Cultural Heritage Administration, solidifying its role as a founding member of the International Alliance of Silk Road Cities. This collaboration marks a significant step in AlUla's global partnership expansion and deepens the cultural ties between Saudi Arabia and China. The partnership is set to explore various domains including archaeology, cultural heritage preservation, museum collaborations, research, education, and talent development, along with tourism and cultural exchanges. Specific initiatives under this partnership include establishing a technology-focused archaeological laboratory, fostering connections between heritage sites in AlUla and Henan, and developing joint exchange programs. Abeer Al Akel, acting CEO of RCU, emphasized the mutual commitment to preserving cultural heritage and fostering knowledge exchange between Saudi Arabia and China. AlUla's and Henan's rich histories, both being homes to UNESCO World Heritage Sites, provide a unique foundation for this collaboration. This partnership aligns with the broader Saudi-Chinese relationship, which has seen substantial growth in recent years, particularly following Saudi Arabia's involvement in China's Belt and Road Initiative. The alliance aims to promote sustainable tourism and cultural development both in northwest Arabia and across the alliance's member cities, spanning 26 countries. AlUla's engagement in the alliance and its active participation in international forums and events are part of RCU's strategy to promote AlUla as a global destination for culture and tourism. The exhibition 'AlUla, Wonder of Arabia' at Beijing's Palace Museum, drawing significant visitor interest, exemplifies the cultural exchange and interest between the two nations. The RCU's partnership with Henan and participation in the International Alliance of Silk Road Cities underscore a commitment to cultural exchange, preservation, and sustainable development, strengthening ties between Saudi Arabia and China and enriching the global cultural landscape. — SG
