A statistical report released about the Ministry of Health hospitals and primary care centers revealed that 248,048 childbirths were registered in 2007, including 458,048 by Caesarian section and 192,863 natural, Al-Watan reported. The same report indicated that 742,199 patients visited Ob/Gyn departments, with Al-Qurayat area topping the list of Saudi patients at 99.45 percent of the total and Makkah Al-Mukarrama registering the lowest percentage at 89.85 percent of the total. In 2007, 280,639 female in-patient cases across the Kingdom were recorded with 247,752 Saudis (88.28 percent) and 32,887 non-Saudis (11 percent). Al-Qunfudha area registered the highest percentage of Saudi in-patients at 100 percent and Jeddah the lowest at 76 percent. The report also indicated that 71,641 Saudi women and 3,867 non-Saudi women visited infertility clinics. Meanwhile 98 percent of Saudi women in Al-Ahsaa visited infertility clinics. Bisha registered the lowest percentage of 86.54 percent.
