RIYADH — The Oil Park Development Company (OPDC), a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), has revealed its ambitious masterplan for THE RIG., a new adventure tourism destination poised to revolutionize the tourism industry. Announced on Wednesday via a press release from OPDC, this initiative aligns with the goals of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 to stimulate tourism growth, generate jobs, attract investments, and diversify the economy. THE RIG.'s CEO, Raed Bakhrji, outlined the project's vast scope, covering over 300,000 square meters and situated 40km off the coast near Al Juraid Island and the Berri Oil Field in the Arabian Gulf. With an anticipated annual footfall of over 900,000 visitors by 2032, THE RIG. aims to cater to a broad spectrum of tourists, from adrenaline junkies and explorers to those seeking a balanced holiday or relaxation. The project boasts an impressive array of facilities, including three hotels with a total of 800 rooms, 11 restaurants, an extreme sports and adventure park, a world-class marina, and helipads. Additionally, THE RIG. will offer a diverse range of water-based activities like a diving center, an amusement park, a splash park, an E-sports center, an immersive theater, and a multi-purpose arena.
