BARCELONA — The Ministerial Committee, appointed by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit, met in Barcelona on Monday. Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the Saudi Foreign Minister, led the discussions convened with the support of Spain's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jose Manuel Albares Bueno, The distinguished members of the committee, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan, Ayman Al-Safadi; Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry; Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine, Riad Malki; Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Hakan Fidan; and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, participated in the insightful discussions. The agenda encompassed a comprehensive review of the current situation in the Gaza Strip and its environs. Deliberations highlighted the positive outcomes of the humanitarian truce, resulting in the release and reunification of certain prisoners with their families. The committee also delved into ongoing efforts to establish a sustainable ceasefire, with a focus on ending violence, resolving long-standing conflicts, and facilitating the opening of secure corridors for the prompt delivery of aid and urgent relief to the Gaza Strip. The committee earnestly addressed global initiatives aimed at halting the war and mitigating the humanitarian crisis it has engendered. The commitment to safeguarding civilians and upholding the principles of international law and humanitarian law was a focal point of the meeting. Reaffirming the importance of the international community's role, the Ministerial Committee underscored the necessity for effective measures to enforce international resolutions regarding the Palestinian issue. Holding the Israeli occupation accountable for persistent violations of international law and humanitarian standards was a shared concern. The committee members reiterated their call for the international community to act responsibly, rejecting selectivity in the application of legal and moral standards. They urged concerted efforts to shield the Palestinian people from atrocities committed by occupation forces and settler militias in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. The overarching goal remains a return to the path of just, lasting, and comprehensive peace, guided by the implementation of international resolutions advocating the two-state solution. The committee emphasized the imperative of enabling the Palestinian people to attain their legitimate rights in establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, following the lines of June 4, 1967.
