RIYADH — Saudi Arabia's Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman met in Riyadh on Sunday with Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations. During the meeting, Saudi Arabia's efforts in confronting climate change and its initiatives in clean fuel solutions, including programs to manage and reduce carbon emissions, in addition to the role of Saudi Green Initiative and the Middle East Green Initiative in meeting the UN's climate goals by applying the circular carbon economy approach were reviewed. Furthermore, the meeting touched on Saudi Arabia's hosting of the Middle East and North Africa Climate Week (MENACW) 2023, which was organized by the Kingdom in cooperation with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat last October.
