PORT LOUIS — Saudi Ambassador to South Africa and the non-resident Ambassador to Mauritius Sultan Al-Angari met with Secretary General of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Ambassador Salman Al-Farsi at the headquarters of IORA in Mauritius. Ambassador Al-Angari handed over to Al-Farsi the document related to Saudi Arabia's accession to IORA as a dialogue partner, which was decided unanimously by the Council of Ministers of IORA during its meeting held on November 24 in Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh, and the recommendation of the association's Senior Officials Committee to approve the request submitted by Saudi Arabia to join it as a dialogue partner. During the meeting, they discussed aspects of enhancing joint work and coordination between Saudi Arabia and the 23-country association. They also reviewed aspirations to strengthen partnership aimed at supporting sustainable growth and development, and developing bonds of cooperation and dialogue with member states in international forums, in addition to discussing ways to enhance economic cooperation in light of the Saudi Vision 2030. It is noteworthy that IORA is a dynamic inter-governmental organization aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and sustainable development within the Indian Ocean region through its 23 member states and 10 dialogue partners.
