One of the largest manufacturers of gold in the Mideast has been working on a new collection of Islamic and oriental jewelry products to be launched during Ramadan. ‘Taiba' will introduce its newly designed products with an Islamic and Oriental look later this month . The World Gold Council recently introduced lightweight gold jewelry with hollow designs because the high price of gold meant that many people could not afford gold jewelry. “These new products will be attractive to the public especially in the month of Ramadan,” said Bisher Diab, the country manager of the World Gold Council. “Consumers have stopped buying gold not because of its high price, but because market prices are unstable. Once gold prices stabilize in whatever price range, buyers will come again,” Diab said. “Gold is still the best form of investment,” he added. Taiba and L' Zurde are the largest manufacturers of gold in the region. They have operation units in the Kingdom, Dubai and Egypt. Diab said a positive response is expected in Ramadan for these designs that would not be as heavy and yet have the fine unique look of heavy gold jewelry. The World Gold Council is the main organizer of a series of international events aimed at discovering new industrial applications for gold. The Council has arranged 10 activities for the summer in different malls and shopping centers, he added. __
