HOUSTON — The Saudi Makers-JR of the Saudi Robotics Team has won the Programming Award in the category of FIRST Lego League Explore in Houston, Texas, among over 20,000 worldwide teams. Earlier, 3 Saudi teams have participated at the FIRST Robotics Competition finals 2023 under the supervision of the Saudi Federation for Robotics and RC Sports, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. The 3 teams included 12 male and female students from the education departments of Riyadh, Jeddah and Al-Sharqiyah, as they participated in 3 tracks. The tracks are: FIRST Lego League Jr for those from 6 to 10 years old, and the FIRST Lego League Challenge for the age group from 9 to 16, while the third track is the FIRST Tech Challenge for intermediate and secondary schools — male and female students. The FIRST League has enabled the students to enhance their imaginative thinking and strengthened them to work through teamwork in the fields of science, engineering, technology, mathematics, all of which contributed to enhancing their innovation, as well as explore and develop the skills of the robots and the Artificial Intelligence. It is noteworthy that the preliminary qualifiers at the level of Saudi Arabia's regions to qualify the students to participate in this tournament were held in March at the King Abdullah Cultural Center in Jubail Industrial City.
